Yo Rawkers! Welcome to the Rawlinson Music Blog! This blog will keep you updated on the happenings in the Rawlinson Music Department. You will also find great links to music videos, music games and other great music materials.

If you have a friend or family member who plays an instrument and would like to show Rawlinson how it's done, have them contact Mr. Ball to arrange a time to visit the music room.

Let's Get Rawking!
What are we going to be doing in the Rawlinson Music Department this year?  Here is what we have in store!

The Primary music program focuses on exploring music through singing, listening and moving to a variety of musical experiences.  Students will listen to a wide variety of recorded and live music, while singing in groups, learning about musical patterns and composing soundscapes.  Students will also learn how to properly care for musical instruments and proper performance and audience behaviour.

The Junior music program focuses on reading music, singing, listening to, creating and performing a variety of musical experiences.  Students will play music with different parts, read music with key signatures and create their own compositions.  Students will also create their own musical notation and think critically about music that they hear and perform.
Junior Hip Hop Club

Okay Rawkers!  The Junior Hip Hop Club is about to begin.  Aaah YEAH!

We will be writing rhymes and creating beats, with the goal of a live performance!  If you want to sign up for The Club, you must be responsible, committed, be willing to work hard and must get permission from your home room teacher.  If your behaviour is appropriate, you will be welcome into the Junior Hip Hop Club.

We will be focusing on writing and performing rhymes as well as learning basic DJ skills.  Using the DJX groove boxes and the DJX keyboard, we will learn how to choose a beat, change tempo, change pitch, mix, scratch with rhythm, and how to rock the crowd.

The Club is open to Junior students (Grade 4-6) with good behaviour. Space is very limited to ensure that every member gets a chance to use all the gear, as well as enough time to practice their skills.  Because space is limited, you must be serious about The Club.  If you need to miss a session, you must let Mr. Ball know as soon as you know that you will be away.  Remember that the goal of this club is to perform live so we need to make sure that all members are using their time appropriately!  It's not fair to the other members if you take a spot and are not willing to work hard.

Let's get CRACK-a-LACKIN'!
